Here is a short film made for a contest at Exeter University. It’s using a combination of tilt-shift and speedframe techniques, as inspired by the work of Keith Loutit .

A one man band duet. If two one man bands play together are they still one man bands? A question I’m sure Dick van Dyke would have the answer to. I’ve googled “one man band duet” and can’t seem to find evidence of this ever occuring. So, as soon as I can get my hands on two one man band setups, I’ll post a video.

The Daily Mail posted this article on Friday, claiming that this image was take from a “terror forum”. Actually, it was lifted from the video game Fallout 3 which will be released later this year.

“This computer generated image posted on terror forums depict what would happen if a nuclear attack took place in Washington D.C. So far that is only a dream … or, as this picture suggests, a nightmare,” reporter Barry Wigmore said.

Perhaps this Daily Mail reporter had never been to a video games forum before and genuinely thought he had stumbled across a “Terror Forum”. The fanatical following that some video games claim would make Bin Laden jealous.

This article has not been edited for a good two days which leads e to think Barry did not realise that the image he had found was being badly misrepresented.

Spreading a little fear never hurt anyone. Looks like a good game though.

“Two teenage boys have been jailed for life for the murder of a woman who was killed for dressing as a Goth.

Sophie Lancaster was kicked and stamped to death by Brendan Harris, 15, and Ryan Herbert, 16, in Stubbylee Park in Bacup, Lancashire, last summer.

The pair turned on Miss Lancaster, 20, in an act of “feral thuggery” as she tried to get them and three other youths to stop attacking her boyfriend.

Harris must serve a minimum of 18 years and Herbert 16 years, the judge said.

He added: “This was a terrible case which has shocked and outraged all who have heard about it.

“At least wild animals, when they hunt in packs, have a legitimate reason for so doing, to obtain food.

“You have none and your behaviour on that night degrades humanity itself.”

What Judge Anthony Russell is basically saying, is that these boys are degrading humanity by refusing to eat their victims, and that we should rise with our animal brothers in support of cannibalism*. I, for one, agree wholeheartedly with this proposal and intend to eat the next person I see.

This isn’t even a spoof. I’m not sure how useful these idioms would actually be to someone learning English. I don’t think I’ve ever heard any of them actually being used in everyday conversation. “The Teacher” (as he is known) has recently won an award for innovation from the English-Speaking Union. Top marks.
